And Microsoft drops Florence-2 🖼

No hype. No doom.

Just actionable resources and strategies to accelerate your success in the age of AI

Today’s Story

Safe Superintelligence Inc. “SSI is our mission, our name, and our entire product roadmap, because it is our sole focus”

Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI co-founder and former chief scientist, has launched a new company. Sutskever and Jan Leike, who co-led OpenAI's Superalignment team, left their previous employer (OpenAI) after disagreements with other key leadership regarding AI safety.

Sutskever has had a longstanding focus on AI safety, predicting superintelligent AI within the decade and stressing the need for research to control it.

SSI's mission and product roadmap will focus solely on safe superintelligence, combining safety and capabilities as technical problems to be solved. They aim to advance AI performance rapidly while ensuring safety measures are a step ahead, avoiding management and commercial pressures.

ElevenLabs Releases Open-Source AI Sound Effects Tool

  • ElevenLabs has released open-source tool for generating sound effects in videos, showcasing the potential of its recently launched Sound Effects API.

  • Users can upload a video, and the app extracts four frames at one-second intervals, sending them along with a prompt to OpenAI’s GPT-4o to create a custom text-to-sound effects prompt.

  • The generated prompt is then used to produce a sound effect through ElevenLabs’ Sound Effects API, and the video and audio are combined on the client side into a single downloadable file.

  • The integration of AI-generated sound effects into larger systems could potentially revolutionize the way audio is created and synchronized with video content, streamlining production processes and enabling more dynamic and immersive experiences.
