Digital twins, virtual models of humans and objects, will be a major application of AI across industries, ranging from healthcare all the way to urban planning.

The market for digital twins is projected to skyrocket from $35 billion in 2023 to $379 billion by 2034, according to Gartner, with the healthcare industry driving much of this growth. These twins can range from statistical models of complex systems like organisms or weather patterns to video avatars of individuals trained on speeches and posts.

For example, Startups like Twin Health create digital twins of patients using sensors and wearables to monitor vital signs and provide tailored advice on diet, sleep, and exercise. By analyzing vast amounts of health data, they can help healthcare providers offer more targeted treatments and even reverse diseases like diabetes in some cases.
