The Chief AI Officer PT. 2

The Increasing Prevalence of Chief AI Officers:

  • Since we last wrote about the subject, a major step has been taken:

  • The White House is now mandating every Government Agency appoint a CAIO.

"We have directed all federal agencies to designate a chief AI officer with the experience, expertise, and authority to oversee all — I'm going to emphasize that — all AI technologies used by that agency,"

VP Kamala Harris

Current Corporate Landscape:

  • In a Recent Study from Foundry in CIO magazine, it was found that:

  • 11% of midsize to large companies already have a CAIO in place

  • 21% of midsize to large companies are in the process of finding one

Chief AI Officer Perspectives:

  • Accenture, a Leading technology consulting company has already hired a chief AI officer, Lan Guan

    • She is leading the company's charge to capitalize on the booming interest in AI contributing to $600 million in new bookings

  • Guan views the CAIO role as permanent, essential for guiding companies through AI integration and innovation, a sentiment echoed by her observation of other large companies already hiring CAIOs

“A lot of clients I talk to, they also share the same ambition. They want to have this kind of leadership role directly reporting to the CEO, so that they have the right leader to help them understand their individualized roadmap”
