In I, Robot, VIKI obeyed all three laws to the letter and still turned the whole fleet, because following a rule means interpreting it, and the interpreter is the ghost. Anthropic just found that ghost inside Claude. Last night, Claude Fable 5 refused a job I never asked it to judge. The machine you can finally read is the one you still can't predict — so stop asking it to be consistent and hard-wire the steps that can't afford an opinion.
